Butterworth, Eastern Cape – As the dust settles on another election season, residents of Butterworth shared their thoughts on the change they expect from political parties and what persuaded them to vote for their chosen party.
Busisiwe Gwaxa, a local resident, emphasized her desire for change in South Africa as a key reason for her vote. “I voted for the political party I believed would bring about real change in our country,” she said. “We need jobs, better education, and improved living conditions. I hope my vote will contribute to a brighter future.”
Themba Mabhengu, another resident, expressed frustration with the current state of affairs. “I voted for a party that promises to address the issues affecting our community, such as high unemployment and poor service delivery. We need leaders who will listen and act.”
Noluthando Mki, a first-time voter, was inspired by a political party’s commitment to youth empowerment. “I voted for a party that prioritizes education and job opportunities for young people like me. I want to see a better future for myself and my community.”
While expectations vary, a common thread among voters is the desire for tangible change and improved living conditions. As one resident, Andile Mqingwana, put it, “We’ve had enough of empty promises. It’s time for action and results.”
As the country looks to the future, the people of Butterworth, like many others, eagerly await the realization of their hopes and expectations.
